Jon Cox
I spent 31 years in law enforcement, 25 of them with the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff, where I retired as Captain. Along the way I served as a deputy, sergeant, vice detective, and lieutenant, and later as contract Police Chief for the City of Oakley, Patrol Division Commander, and Coroner Commander. I closed out my career with six years at the City of Dixon as Police Chief, and briefly as City Manager.
Twenty-one of those years were spent in management, hiring and promoting personnel. That’s where I found my passion: coaching and mentoring people through the hiring and promotional process and watching them succeed. My Christian faith and values shaped how I approached that work, and I believe they had a great deal to do with the outcomes.
I began my career in 1984, before I was a born again Christian. When I was saved in 1991, it changed me completely, both personally and professionally. Because of that, I’m equipped to walk alongside believers and seekers alike, and I’m glad to share my own experience to help build others up for success.
